How we began:
In December of 2000, owner and stylist Laura Miller Souter embarked upon a new journey and opened Atelier Hair & Body Salon in downtown Baton Rouge. It was the first salon in the downtown area in over 30 years. In the seven years since, Atelier has grown year after year, being named to Salon Today’s Top 200 by Salon Today Magazine for three years consecutively and also garnering two salon design awards, Salon of Distinction: one in 2001, the other this year, 2007. Atelier evolved in 2006 by moving into the Hilton Baton Rouge Capitol Center hotel and is now known as Atelier Rouge Hair & Body Retreat.
Where we are now:
The salon now has a complete day spa offering massage, skincare and body treatments along with all of the wonderful hair and nail services we offered previously. We are committed to educating our guests to the fact that taking care of the body from the “outside in” greatly benefits the mental, physical and emotional state of the individual. So, working from the “outside in” creates a beautiful day from the “inside out”. Our entire team is on a never-ending mission to raise the quality of the guests experience and to make sure that feeling lasts long after they leave our salon.
Our Location:
We are located at 201 Lafayette St., Baton Rouge, La., inside of the Hilton Hotel on the Mezzanine level. Take the elevator to the mezzanine (M on the buttons) and when getting off turn right. Follow through the double doors to the balcony overlooking the lobby. The salon is immediately to the right.

***Sunday, Monday and AfterHours Appointments may be scheduled by special arrangement. Minimum 4 weeks advance request recommended for these appointments.
Reservations & Cancellations:
Our Client Coordinators are available to assist you with booking your services. A credit card or gift card number is required to secure your reservation. Please inform us of any medical conditions, special needs, or allergies at this time.
We will gladly change or cancel your appointment up to 24 hours in advance of the scheduled time. Non-cancelled or missed appointments will be charged in full. Scheduling an appointment will be taken as indication of your acceptance of this policy. All services and prices are subject to change without notice.
Salon Policies:
- Prices and hours of availability are subject to change. To insure correct information, please call and confirm with Salon Manager at 225-906-9800.
- Feel free to request a different staff member at any time for any reason. We are a team of dedicated professionals and we are pleased to have guests served by any of our staff members.
- Please be courteous when using cell phones in the salon or retreat areas. We ask that all phones be put on vibrate or turned off for your own relaxation as well as the relaxation of other guests. No cell phone usage is allowed in the retreat area.
Parking:
Valet Parking is available in front of the hotel. We do offer validation of your ticket upon completion of your services. We do ask that you show your appreciation to the individual valet.
A "Green" Business:
At Atelier Rouge, we are committed to doing everything we can to promote GREEN Business practices. We do recycle our paper and plastics by personally taking them to our homes and recycling. There is no current program in the downtown area, but we feel so strongly about this issue that we have taken it upon ourselves to do what we can do.
We also carry only the finest products by manufacturers who also are committed to GREEN Business practices.
